Miner killed at Tshepong mine

Harmony Gold has reported a fatality at Tshepong mine near Welkom in the Free State, South Africa.

‘One of Harmony Gold’s employees was fatally injured in a mining equipment related incident,’ reads a statement from Harmony. The accident occurred on 17 January 2018.

Last year on 7 December 2017, an employee was killed in a fall of ground accident also at Tshepong — making it two fatalities in over a month.

‘Managementextend their heartfelt condolences to the family, friendsand colleagues of the deceased,’ the statement reads. An investigation into the accident is underway.
