For those of you who ever read Bryce Courtney’s classic The Power of One, you would remember that most of the story is set in 1940s Barberton. Much has improved over the past 70 years, but Barberton remains well known and reputable as a golden land of opportunity.

Barberton Mines is the birthplace of BIOX (‘Biological Oxidation’), an environmentally friendly process of releasing the gold from the sulphide that surrounds it, using organisms that perform this process naturally. Barberton is still used as the training facility for all BIOX plants globally.

Stats
- This is our 6th exhibition in the area.

Located in the Free State province of South Africa, Beatrix Mine is a gold mining operation owned by Sibanye Gold. Although nominal surface reserves represented by surface rock dumps (SRDs) that accumulated during the operating history of the mine have been found at the mine, Beatrix is predominantly an underground operation.

Beatrix, a shallow to intermediate-depth operation, mining at depths of between 700m and 2 200m below surface, exploits the Beatrix Reef at shafts 1 and 3, and the Kalkoenkrans Reef at Shaft 4. Situated near regional urban centres where it can routinely obtain supplies, the mine has access to the national electricity grid and to water, road and rail infrastructure. The mine also has two processing plants, where carbon-in-leach and carbon-in-pulp are used.

Exhibitors we would like to see at the expo include those involved in new technology for gold mining, automation, efficiency, conveyer technology, in-stope lighting, dust filtration, water management, net tensioners in stope and new technology for PPE.

Mooinooi is a mining town situated in the North West Province of South Africa. The town is located between Rustenburg and Brits, and makes up part of the North West’s platinum belt. Mines in the town do not only produce platinum as there are also chrome mines in the area. Lonmin mine and Western Chrome mine are the main mines in Mooinooi among others.

Lonmin mainly deals with exploring, mining, smelting, refining and marketing platinum. Although platinum is the main product at Lonmin, the mine also has chrome which is a saleable by-product produced from the mine’s PGMs. Lonmin’s main mining operation is Marikana, which accounts for 95% of Lonmin’s output.

Western Chrome mine comprises of three underground mines, two surface beneficiation plants and two tailings re-treatment plants. The mine uses two underground methods namely conventional scraper mining and trackless mechanised mining. The main products of the mine are metallurgical and chemical concentrates.

Exhibitors
Automation, fall of ground management, track maintenance and fatigue management exhibitors are welcome. Other exhibitors we would like to see are hopper maintenance, dust suppression, noise reduction, and conveyor belt cleaning technology. Companies that supply equipment or products to the platinum mining industry mines are also welcome.

Boshoek is located approximately 30km north-west of Rustenburg. Mining operations around Boshoek comprise of both open cast mining operations and ferrochrome beneficiation. The Royal Bafokeng Platinum, Styldrift I project and Styldrift II exploration are some of the platinum mining activities that take place in the Boshoek area.

Royal Bafokeng Platinum mine is situated in Rustenburg outside the North West Province of South Africa. The mine predominantly produces platinum group metals (PGMs). The PGMs are found in the Merensky and UG2 reefs on the Boschkoppie Styldrift and Frischgewaagd farms in the Rustenburg area.
The Styldrift I project is an underground mine that is part of Royal Bafokeng Platinum mine.

The Styldrift I underground mine is situated within the boundaries of the Styldrift and Frischgewaagd farms. The has the potential to produce 230 000 tonnes of platinum in a month. The Styldrift II exploration lies east of the current Styldrift I expansion project. The resource currently comprises 58Mt Merensky at an average grade of 7.81g/t 4E over a resource width of 104cm and 71Mt UG2 at an average grade of 5.39g/t 4E over a resource width of 120cm.

Exhibitors should include any company that supplies equipment or products to the platinum mining industry mines, or that supplies equipment or products that can be used in the platinum mining process.

Esor Construction Exhibition Header590 MM

Welcome to Esor!

Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE) is proud to bring you an expo of a different kind with the Esor exhibition, which takes place on 23 November 2017 at the Esor Construction Offices in Germiston, from 11:00 to 16:00.

Esor specialises in the civil engineering and construction, with particular focus on construction solutions in water, infrastructure and township developments. Due to Esor’s involvement in a variety of industries, this exhibition is a perfect platform for visitors and exhibitors involved in water, pipeline, sanitation and construction among others.

Esor Pipe Services has contributed extensively to bringing the trenchless technique to southern Africa, through the acquisition of Tuboseal. Esor now offers a turnkey solution to most trenchless technology requirements from inspection, investigation to implementation. Esor Sanitation is established to target work associated with the backlog of water and sanitation provision to all households and schools within South Africa.

Visitors will have an opportunity to interact with the exhibitors who have the necessary knowledge about industry products that will be on display. This allows visitors to get as much information as possible about particular products and even learn how they work by watching the demos taking place at the exhibition.

This is the first time MTE will host an exhibition of this kind which shows MTE’s flexibility when it comes to hosting exhibitions for different industries. MTE’s travelling exhibitions have hosted exhibitions in the sugar, agricultural and industrial industries in addition to the mining industry.

For those who are not familiar with MTE, this travelling exhibition company has been running for over two decades, providing a unique platform for suppliers of top-of-the-line mining and industrial equipment to showcase their goods to a community hungry for new technology, services and information – right on its doorstep.

We trust the expo will be a rewarding experience – whether you are visiting or exhibiting. However, we are always open to suggestions as to how we can make future expos even more accommodating for you and your business.
