MTE at the heart of the mine.

Modikwa mine is situated along the border between the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces and is 450m deep underground with three decline shafts and a concentrator. African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) owns 50% of the mine while a 17% stake in ARM mining consortium is held by two Section 21 companies representing communities around Modikwa.

Modikwa mine is a large underground mine located in the north-eastern part of South Afric a, northwest of Burgersfort, in one of South Africa’s platinum provinces, Limpopo. Modikwa represents one of the largest platinum reserves in South Africa, with estimated reserves topping 200 million tonnes (Mt) of ore grading 2g/t platinum, 1.87g/t palladium and minor grades of gold, rhodium, ruthenium and iridium. The mine has reserves of 13.8 million ounces (Moz) of platinum and 12.9Moz of palladium and it produces around 120 000oz of platinum a year and 110 000oz of palladium a year.

Exhibitors should include companies that supply equipment or products to the platinum mining industry mines or that supply equipment or products that can be used in the platinum mining process. Modikwa is part of southern Africa’s world-famous platinum belt so, if you’re involved in that business, then this is the expo for you.
